This course is intended to provide adoption professionals with information and materials they can use to educate pre-adoptive and adoptive parents about the mental-health and developmental issues their children may experience.
Course Objective:

Learn ways to incorporate this module into their own training programs for prospective adoptive parents and experienced adoptive parents

Have an understanding of some of the psychological, developmental and medical challenges that adopted children may experience

Learn about resources to assist professionals in understanding and addressing these psychological, developmental and medical challenges with adoptive parents

Teach prospective adoptive parents about adopting a specific child

Author Bio:
David Brodzinsky, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus of Developmental and Clinical Psychology and past Director of the Foster Care Counseling Project at Rutgers University. He also was a founding director and served for 10 years on the Board of Directors of the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute in New York City.
